The PowerMatchTM Process
Finding the Best Candidate for the Job

PowerMatchTM is LTL Consulting’s corporate recruiting and hiring process. We utilize PowerMatchTM with every client opportunity we receive and with every candidate we interview. We use PowerMatchTM to more thoroughly analyze the needs of the client and the candidate saving both time and money. PowerMatchTM is the culmination of more than 30 years in the IT talent industry.

When we receive an opportunity the following PowerMatchTM steps are taken:

Job Order: A member of LTL Consulting communicates with the client’s hiring manager about the following:
  • What industry the client is in and what product or service the client engages in. We also like to find out how long the company has been in business, number of employees in the company, number of employees with IT and other locations both nationally and internationally.
  • The job’s description and requirements including what skills are absolutely essential and what skills are pluses, we find out what the exact job title will be and what the salary range for the position is.
  • The individual qualities/personality characteristics that you are looking for.
  • The interview process that each candidate will go through
  • The office’s culture and any corporate guidelines that may be pertinent to our search. The job order is then presented to our recruitment staff

Recruiting: Our recruitment staff has several strategies at their disposal when searching to find the right candidate for the position: run a search of our PowerMatchTM database, refer to our active candidate list or begin a targeted, referral based recruiting search. We have each of our candidates go through our recruitment process outlined below before we present them. Because of this, our time to hire can be greatly reduced, giving our client the opportunity to get a fully screened, highly qualified candidate in a matter of hours!

Submittal: Our recruitment staff will get permission from the candidate to submit their information. We present the client with our LTL Consulting PowerMatchTM Candidate Review which includes:

  • A Microsoft Word version of the candidate’s resume
  • A bulleted overview of the candidate’s relevant skills
  • A years of experience summary with pertinent skills
  • Our Technical Skills Assessment – checks for a specific set of skills to verify the depth of a candidate's knowledge in a key area.
  • Our Behavioral Assessment – combines personality, experience, thinking ability and problem solving skills to give accurate performance predictions.
  • The candidate’s location, certifications and availability
  • Rate/Salary information
  • Why the candidate is job searching

Offer: If the client is interested, LTL Consulting will handle all necessary paperwork.

Ongoing Services: We take great satisfaction in the fact that our services don’t end once we place a candidate. We have a dedicated staff that stays involved with our candidates and is available to answer any questions that you may have. This enables you to focus on what you do best, while being assured of a high class of service.

All our candidates go through our PowerMatchTM process which consists of the following:

Screening Call:Our recruitment staff contacts all candidates to determine:

  • Work History
  • Skills
  • Salary history and Benefit Package including vacation
  • Education including certifications
  • Current work status including other opportunities the candidate is pursuing
  • How soon the candidate is available to interview and start
  • Openness to travel
  • Status to work in the U.S.

In-person Interview: Following the Screening Call each applicant within a 30-mile radius of our office has a personal interview with a senior-level recruiter. During this interview, we discuss:
  • Work history and success stories
  • Salary Expectations
  • Counter Offers
  • Interview style
  • Overall attitude, motivation and behavior
  • Likes and dislikes
  • Residence Status
  • Family
  • Hobbies and interests outside of work
(In the event a candidate lives outside the 30-mile radius of our office and is unable to be interviewed in person, LTL Consulting will conduct a detailed phone or teleconference interview.)

Skills Assessment: In order to make certain that our candidates have the skills necessary for a position, we have each candidate take a web-based skills test, the results of which are kept on file to be shared if the candidate is submitted for a position.

Behavioral Assessment: Having a candidate with excellent technical skills is great, but if they don’t have the right personality to fit into your team; it’s not going to work out. That’s why we have each of our candidate’s take a web based behavioral assessment, the results of which are kept on file to be shared if the candidate is submitted to a position.

Reference Checks: We check up to three references on each candidate to determine how previous managers and peers view the candidate and their work.

Some competitors think that we go overboard making sure that our candidates are a perfect match for our clients. They say that all of our screening and assessments may actually rule out some candidates from being selected. But that’s what the PowerMatchTM process is all about. It’s about providing our client with the most information so that they can make an informed decision. That’s why the PowerMatchTM process saves our clients both time and money.
